In this article on Apache Iceberg, The New Stack highlighted Dremio’s aims to eliminate the middle layers and the work involved between the user and the data stores, has announced plans to integrate its platform with Iceberg this year, which are Project Nessie and Arrow Flight 3.0 as part of the trend toward decoupling compute and data.
“We want the data tier to support things like transactions and data mutations and time travel. And it needs to be open source and accessible to all these different engines, that the whole value of a modern, loosely coupled architecture. So Iceberg is a perfect fit for that,” said Dremio Co-founder and Chief Product Officer Tomer Shiran.
